St. Croix, VI — Armrey Industries, Inc., a local business serving the VI since 1961, has
committed to donating a percentage of ALL earnings for the remainder of 2023 to local Maui
Disaster Response and Relief efforts. They are calling on other businesses to follow their lead,
and encourage Virgin Islands residents to make direct donations to this cause.
“Following the devastation of Hurricanes Irma and Maria, and Armrey’s recovery efforts in the
Virgin Islands, our team and community are ready to help the people of Maui,” Julian Bishop,
President and General Manager of Armrey stated Friday. “In 2017, Virgin Islanders were
hurting and needed any help we could get — now, the people of Maui need ours.”
Jean Bishop, the current owner of Armrey and wife of Jack Bishop (1961-2022), emphasized
the need for compassion and support during this critical time for Maui. As a mother of two
(Julian and Katherine), an educator for over 40 years, and an immigrant herself, Jean always
considered herself a Global Citizen and encouraged others to extend kindness and love to all.
“After the devastation of Hurricane Hugo in 1989, Jack and I found ourselves fresh off our
honeymoon, providing shelter, food, and supplies to friends, family, and even neighbors we
only just met,” Jean stated, “I worked at Manor School before and following Hugo’s impact, we
received countless boxes of relief supplies from all over the world — these selfless efforts
saved us and can save Maui.”
Jean, Julian, and the Armrey Team have found light in darkness following the passing of Jack
Bishop, a born and raised Crucian who led Armrey for 37 years. Under Jean and Julian’s
leadership, Armrey has begun implementing the “Jack Sprat Giveback” initiative, which will
offer discounted and/or donated services to the Virgin Islands community — “sharing our love
with the islands that raised Jack”.
